Happy Birthday Lynn!

When I began praying for a husband and the qualities that I wanted, I really did think to myself on numerous occasions “Am I ever going to find him?” Honestly, I was completely satisfied with my life. I was single, living in a huge city, studying in college and ok with where I was. When I moved back to Arkansas I realized there was still something missing. I knew deep down inside though, I eventually wanted to get married, have children and have the house with the white picket fence, but I was also ok with the fact that if God did not want me to marry then that was his will and plan for my life.

When I met L, and we began dating, I realized all those qualities in which I had prayed for in a husband were in him, but I thought to myself “a man doesn’t just get these; someone has to teach boys this”. Soon after I meant Lynn {little did I know then he would soon become my FIL} I saw in Lynn where L got this from.
Today Lynn celebrated his birthday. L and I are continually blessed by him and his 34 years of marriage to L’s mom. They together inspire us, demonstrate love, compassion, and are complete genuine people to both L and I. L and I are so blessed to have them in our lives and continue to encourage us as newlyweds.
Lynn has instilled in L and his older brother Bryan, qualities and attributes that still amaze me. I We thank God for him today and we thank him also for the example and leadership he has set and continues to set each and every day.

Wake UP Call!

I’m sure you’ve all heard by now about the earth quake yesterday that “struck near Mineral, Va., more than three miles below sea level, the U.S. Geological Survey said. Mineral is town 83 miles from D.C. and has been known for its seismic activity, but seldom produces a substantial earthquake.” {Source: Fox News}

A U.S. Park Service helicopter flies between the Washington Monument and the Capitol over the National Mall in Washington, D.C., Aug. 23, 2011, following an earthquake in the Washington area. (AP Photo)

A few moments after it occurred, I received a text from my SIL. She asked me what I thought about it”.  Side Note: {Those of you who know me or have been following this blog, I used to live in DC while working in the White House and am very familiar with the area.}

I didn’t really know how to answer her, but I finally said “I think it’s a Wakeup Call to the Government and the People”. Washington is essentially the center of the world, and they need a wakeup call because currently things are spinning out of control.  Which leads me to share this.

3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately, 4 “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled?”
 5 Jesus said to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 6 Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many. 7 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 8 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains. {Source: Bible Gateway}

Jesus tells us in Mark 13 these are the beginnings of the birth pains before Christ Return. In other words these things must occur for Christ to return to fulfill his prophesy.
So today I leave you with a thought….

If these are the signs, and Christ came tomorrow, are you ready? Would you go to Heaven? Do you even know?

5 Things you should do if you’re not 100% SURE….
1.       Recognize {Confess} you’re a sinner.
2.       Realize no human works can provide salvation.
3.       Relay completely and solely on your faith alone for salvation
4.       Follow in believer’s baptism.
5.       Email me at politicsandpolkadots {at} gmail {dot} com

He is coming! Are you ready?

Weekend Recap.

Hope you guys had a relaxing and fun weekend. As always the weekends are NEVER long enough. Though we still had a great one.
·    Friday night we went out to dinner with another couple to a local favorite Hugo’s. If you’re ever in Fayetteville for a Razorback Game or just for fun, you for sure need to stop and eat at the local favorite, underground restaurant great food and eclectic atmosphere!
·    Saturday, we took L’s lil’sister to the pool. It was so hot here again! I am so ready for fall and no more 97-100 * days. I thought it would start to cool down… however I was so wrong. Ha!
·    I went shopping on Saturday for groceries. I asked L what he wanted for dinner on Saturday night. He said “steak”. Though right before I started cooking, we received a call from his parents to see if we wanted to grab dinner with them. I love to cook but every now and then it’s nice to not have too! I was so happy I didn’t have to cook, clean it up, and do dishes! J
·    Sunday was church and then the “Steak Dinner Lunch”. I even cooked twice baked potatoes and salad. I was a tad skeptical though as instead of a normal grill, I cooked steak on a George Foreman. HA! Thanks to google it turned out flawless. J  What would we do without technology?
·    Sunday afternoon L and I headed to the golf course. Let’s just say, since we have both slacked off from playing in the hot summer. This game was nowhere near successful! I would classify it more as a DISASTER! HA!  It was fun though.
·    I finally ordered my {Erin Condren Life Planner}. I can’t wait for it to arrive. You should order yours today, and if you enter 2011OFF I think you will receive 10% off.
This is the one I ordered {via Erin Condren}
·      I am checking on my Tom’s Republican Vote Classics Shoes EVERYDAY. I’m really sad because every day I check they are OUT OF STOCK! They are so cute and totally me! Dear Tom’s Please hurry up so I can buy these! Thanks. J
I hope you all have a great week!

Let’s spend more money... Because that’s what we do!

I found this article by Paul Bedard {read it here} today, appropriately titled Obama's Vineyard Vacation Will Cost Taxpayers Millions“
This baffles my mind. I’m not quite sure if this man is ok in the head. What is it that he doesn’t understand?  His philosophy is “Spend More=More Debt”
While technically he is paying for his estimated $50,000 a week rental of the 28-acre beachfront Blue Heron Farm in woodsy Chilmark, the dozens of U.S. Secret Service agents, communications officials, top aides, drivers, and U.S. Coast Guard personnel with him will be covered by taxpayers as with every other presidential vacation.
His 11-day stay will require the Coast Guard to keep ships floating near Obama's farm, a presidential helicopter and jet at the ready and security agents on 24-hour duty. Armored SUVs dubbed "war wagons" have been flown in to carry the presidential family around the island. It was the same way when former President George H.W. Bush visited Kennebunkport, Maine and Bill Clinton visited Martha's Vineyard during their presidencies. Typically, say former White House officials, the collection of aides is smaller for a summer vacation than for an official trip. And the motorcade is cut in half, to about 20 cars. What's more, the press corps will be smaller, though they largely pay for themselves.
Finding enough housing for staff and security isn't easy. Brannen reported that at the recent town meeting, "Selectman Walter Vail announced that he would be taking a vacation from August 16 to 28 to accommodate Secret Service members who were renting his house." {Paul  Bedard- US NEWS}
Now don’t get me wrong, I totally support vacations and I think everyone who has stressful jobs such as POTUS, should and need to vacate for a while and relax, but lets me serious here… He goes on a vacation/golf trip every other month. The whole reason we’re in the mess is because of greed and too much spending. We should make him pay the USSS/USCG and others, out of his own pocket. To me this story sounds like he is taking advantage of the system and security.

Week –end in review.

This weekend we celebrated L's sister’s birthday. She turned 26th on August 6th. I love how L has a big la familia because almost every month there is a birthday, anniversary, holiday or something we are celebrating; Makes for great conversation, and fabulous memories.

Happy Birthday Ashley!
Saturday we did a lunch at L’s parents and then went out to Lake to some of L’s parent’s friend’s house. Their 9 year old granddaughter was visiting from California and Ms. C’s sister was also visiting from Florida {who makes an amazing chocolate cake I might add}. We went tubing, swam and had a fun little dinner and long chats. We all had a great time.
L's other Sister, who is a TRADER in Texas gear! HA! {i love candid photography}

Their ginormous cat!

The happy couple! So presh! Love it!

Some of the food.

Saturday was church, and then I attempted to cook Thai food for lunch. I think 3rd time will be a charm. The ladies at the Asian market have become good friends as I frequent the store to get the ingredients for my Thai food. They always ask me how it turned out. Ha! I’m still missing something… Spices maybe? Poor L ate like a champ. Ha!

J.P. or Ben

So every girl dreams of the day she will walk down the aisle to meet her groom. I can tell you when I was little my sister and I used to dress up in wedding attire. We even had a train made out of a white baby blanket. Ha! So even though I have found the love of my life and we are about to celebrate our 1 year anniversary  J , I’m addicted to {“The Bachelorette”}.
Tonight Ashley hands out the final rose and I’m so excited to see who she picks. I’m really pulling for J.P. I think they would make such a cute little couple, but marriage isn’t just based on what they look like; hopefully they will become engaged for L-O-V-E!  But it is a reality TV Show, so we shall see.
Ben

J.P.
Who do ya’ll like? One of my dearest friends in the entire world, lives in VA and we always talk about it on Monday, because she watches it the following day, so I have to vow to not say anything to spoil it for her. It’s so hard though! LOL.
Hopefully I will watch tonight and I will be right... I will be somewhat sad if J.P. goes home, but again it’s her pick...not mine. :)

PS. I can't believe its August 1st. Whoa!
